It’s possible that that you need to sync the times of your machines. Munge relies on time-based tokens to issue credentials. Try copying the keyfile from the master node to the clients using scp, but don’t edit them with a text editor.

Then, on each client, run sudo ntpdate pool.ntp.org and reboot the node. Then try the authentication test again.
